Guide to Bidding

You must be 18 or older and signed in to bid. If you haven’t already, create a free account on our website. No app is needed.

• Online: Browse Local Auctions to see everything currently up for bid.
• In person: Come by during viewing hours (Tue–Fri, 2–5 PM) to see pallets and lots up close. Each one has a pallet location number. The easiest way to find a pallet online is to search for that number.

On each auction page you can place one of two kinds of bid:

• Straight bid. This is a single bid at the amount you enter. If it’s high enough, it immediately becomes the current bid.
• Proxy bid (max bid). Enter the most you’re willing to pay. The system bids for you only when someone challenges you, raising your bid by the minimum increment each time. It never goes over your max. You may win for less than your max if no one pushes the price up.

Bids are binding. Once placed, a bid can’t be cancelled, lowered or deleted, so bid carefully.

• Open My Auctions to see every auction you’re bidding on or watching.
• Add any auction to your watchlist to keep an eye on it without bidding.
• Check the Notifications icon on My Auctions for outbid alerts, auction endings and new invoices.

Popcorn bidding

Every auction uses popcorn bidding. If a bid comes in during the final [60 seconds], the clock resets to [60 seconds]. This repeats until no one bids for a full [60 seconds], and then the highest bidder wins. It stops last-second sniping and gives everyone a fair chance to respond. Keep watching until the auction actually closes, because it may run past its scheduled end time.

When the auction round closes, you’ll get an invoice email. You’ll also see the invoice in your Auction Cart, under My Auctions. Open it and check out to pay. The 10% buyer’s fee and applicable sales tax are added at checkout.

Pay promptly. Invoices expire if they’re not paid in time, and unpaid items may be relisted.

• Pickup hours: Tuesday–Friday, 8 AM–4 PM.
• Deadline: within 3 open days of the auction closing. For example, if an auction closes Thursday, pick up by the following Tuesday.
• Schedule a time with the Schedule Your Pick Up link at the top of our website. You must have an appointment to pick up!

If you don’t pick up within 3 open days, you forfeit your items, and a 20% restocking fee is added to your account before you can bid again.
